Joan-E is a legendary Canadian drag entertainer, MC, actor, and human rights advocate from Vancouver, British Columbia. Known for her commanding presence and sharp wit, she is celebrated as a foundational figure in the Canadian drag scene and LGBTQIA+ activism. She served as the official emcee of the Vancouver Pride Parade for an impressive 26 years and holds the title of Queen Mother 1 of Canada. For decades, she has been a prominent activist and fundraiser, raising millions of dollars for local charities and persons living with HIV/AIDS. She’s also appeared on screen in ‘Riverdale’, ‘The Good Doctor’ and as Paul in the Universal Motion Picture, ‘Connie and Carla’. Now living in Scotland, Joan-E is presenting the world premier of her one-Queen show, ‘Diary of a 7ft Canadian Man in a Dress’ this August at Edinburgh Fringe.
